ADELANTE

The ADELANTE Leadership Program, through the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Outreach is designed for student leaders who want to cultivate their leadership development, strengthen cultural pride among their local communities, build mentor relationships and increase civic engagement. The four-year scholarship program is designed to intentionally provide comprehensive support for 40 students per cohort and continue developing and mentoring cohorts through degree completion.

Amount: $5000
Students selected for the ADELANTE scholarship program will receive an annual award of $5000 ($2500/semester). At this time, this scholarship cannot be combined with any other TWU scholarship. It can be combined with external awards.

Incoming ADELANTE scholarship recipients are assigned to the ADELANTE Living Learning Community (LLC), which is located in the newly built Parliament Village.
Staying in the ADELANTE LLC, you will be able to bond with fellow scholars and participate in structured activities. Living on campus provides an invaluable experience for students and their success. The LLC helps make a smooth transition to college, as it allows you to regularly connect with like-minded individuals and build lasting friendships.

ADELANTE scholars will engage in workshops, activities, and service in the following focus areas:
- Leadership Development
- Financial Literacy
- Civic Engagement
- Self-Empowerment & Self-Esteem
- Health & Wellness
- Diversity, Inclusion, & Social Justice
In each year of their scholarship, ADELANTE leaders can expect to complete the Pioneer Advantage Leadership Distinction and the Pioneer Advantage Career Readiness Distinction criteria, as well as spend one day per month at a De Colores Series as part of their transformative student learning expectations.
De Colores Series will consist of:
- Experiential Learning
- Service
- Reflection
- Team building
- Site visits, Conference Presentations
- Book Club Discussions

- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- First-time in college undergraduate student
- Have strong academic merit
- Demonstrate leadership in school and/or community
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Be accepted to TWU as a full-time entering freshmen for the fall semester
- Must participate in ADELANTE: Leadership Program Living Learning Community
